Silver Creek High School student Sean Marchant has won the contest to design the logo for the 2017 Laurel Run.

The design created by Marchant was selected the winner from among dozens of designs submitted by students at area high schools. Internal voting at The Resource Center and Filling the Gap, Inc., resulted in eight finalists; those designs were then posted on the Observer newspaper’s web site so that anyone could cast a vote.

For winning the contest, Marchant will receive a $100 gift card.

The other students to reach the finals were Kevin Altman, Rachael Goodrich and Rene Leone from Forestville; Marah Long and Maya Vecchio from Fredonia; Keziah Ramm from Sherman; and Caleb Mitchener from Southwestern. The Laurel Run Planning Committee congratulates all of the finalists and extends its appreciation to the artists and their teachers from all of the schools that submitted designs for this year’s competition.
