We’d like to thank everyone for their support and sponsorship of the 2016 Laurel Run! Without your kind contributions none of this would be possible. From the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU! For those already thinking about next year’s event it’s already being planned and will take place July 14-15 in 2017. See you then!

Pizza Hut “Fun”draiser Feb. 9

Laurel Hotelling turns 53 years old in February, and everyone is invited to help celebrate the occasion by supporting the annual event that bears her name.

All day long on Tuesday, February 9, the Pizza Hut on Vineyard Drive in Dunkirk will host a “Fun”draiser in honor of Laurel.  The restaurant is ready to donate 20 percent of the cost of each order to Laurel Run, an event created by Laurel’s parents, Wayne and Elaine Hotelling of Silver Creek.

The 20th annual Laurel Run takes place July 15 and 16.  Laurel Run celebrates the achievements of people with disabilities like Laurel, who has Down syndrome.  Laurel has a job at The Resource Center’s Mary Andrews Center on East Chestnut Street in Dunkirk, and Laurel Run seeks to raise public awareness about the potential that exists within everyone who has a disability.

Laurel Run consists of a Jamestown-to-Dunkirk relay run on Friday, July 15.  The following day in Silver Creek, there will be running and walking events, plus a party in the village square.  Money raised through Laurel Run is directed to Filling the Gap, Inc., which works with The Resource Center and TRC Foundation to support people with disabilities in Chautauqua County.

Please be aware that for the Pizza Hut “Fun”draiser, you will not receive a discount on the cost of your meal.  Instead, 20 percent of what you pay for your meal will be donated to Laurel Run.  Money raised through Laurel Run supports employment and work training opportunities for people with disabilities.

To have Pizza Hut donate 20 percent of your order to Laurel Run, you must fill out the form below and give it to your server.  Pizza Hut likely will have extra forms on hand, so if you forget to bring the form with you, notify your server that you are there to support Laurel Run.   The fund-raising promotion also applies to carryout orders, so if you order by phone or online, tell your server you are supporting Laurel Run when you arrive to pick up your order.  The Pizza Hut is open from 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.

For more information on the Pizza Hut event, phone the restaurant at 672-4044.  If you have questions about Laurel Run or would like to become involved in this year’s event, phone The Resource Center at 661-4735 or call the Hotellings at 934-3952.
