Laurel Run weekend to include new event
A new event has been added to Laurel Run weekend.
On Sunday, July 19, the “One Small Kick” kickball tournament will be held at Silver Creek Central School. The event is a fund-raiser to benefit The Foundation for Prader-Willi Research. Prader-Willi Syndrome occurs in about one out of every 15,000 births. Common characteristics of Prader-Willi include abnormal growth and body composition (small stature, low lean-body mass and early-onset childhood obesity); hypotonia (weak muscles) at birth; insatiable hunger; extreme obesity; and intellectual disability.
The One Small Kick tournament is being spearheaded by Mike Matesevac, a Silver Creek High School graduate now living Down South who returns to this area every year to participate in Laurel Run.
The cost to register for the kickball tournament is $100 per team, and teams can consist of 8 to 12 players.
